About me

Hi, I am Frans Heeman.

My career spans all aspects of user experience, in particular user research and prototyping, and always relating user insights to the organization's strategy and vice versa. My original background is in software engineering with a speciality in interactive systems.

• 30+ years of experience in user experience at Elsevier, from working on strategic initiatives and new products to improving existing products
• setting up close to a hundred user studies and carrying out hundreds of user interviews
• working in multi-disciplinary, agile teams, with designers, engineers, product managers and stakeholders across the company and across management layers
• balancing user needs with business needs and technical feasibility
• managing remote, hybrid and international teams from 2 to 12 people.

In addition, I'm an enthusiastic amateur photographer with Fotogroep Haarlem. I have a wide range of photographic interests, including nature, portrets, abstract, architecture, street photography, and more. I use Affinity to edit my photos, so that they better tell the story I want to convey, but never to tell a false story.

Although my site is in English, Dutch is my native language and I'm comfortable in either language.
